Marija Mojca Pungerčar (1964, Novo Mesto) received her BFA in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana and her MFA in new genres from the San Francisco Art Institute in California in 2001. In the winter semester of 1992-93 she was a visiting student at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna. She works as a freelancer and lives in Ljubljana, where she focuses on her artistic projects. She has had over 30 solo exhibitions, including in Brussels, New York, San Francisco, Vienna and Zagreb, and has participated at numerous group exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad. From 2004 to 2013 she was the editor of the Artservis web platform. She is also active in the field of cultural policy, where she focuses on the issue of freelancers/self-employed in the field of culture. She has received several recognitions and awards, including at the 18th Youth Biennial, Austrian Academic Exchange scholarship, ArtsLink scholarship, Fulbright scholarship, award at the Festival of Independent Film and Rihard Jakopič Recognition.
